Leafia Ye

(LEAFY-ah Yeh; hear my name)

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto, where I am also a faculty affiliate at the Global Migration Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. I received my Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2023.

As a demographer and sociologist, I identify challenges that deter immigrants' integration into host societies and develop theories about why they persist. Empirically, I have used a wide range of quantitative methods to analyze administrative and survey datasets.

My work has recently appeared in Social Forces, Population and Development Review, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, RSF: The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences, Socius: Sociological Research for a Dynamic World, and Advances in Medical Sociology.
